I called my Congressman and Senators and expressed the following opinion to their staffers. I urge you to do the same. -Dave Polaschek
Dear Elected Representative,
I refer you to Section 5, paragraph b of the War Powers Act (Public law 93-148, 93rd Congress H. J. Res. 542, of November 7, 1973.
It states:
Within sixty calendar days after a report is submitted or is required to be submitted pursuant to section 4(a)(1), which- ever is earlier, the President shall terminate any use of United States Armed Forces with respect to which such report was submitted (or required to be submitted), unless the Congress (1) has declared war or has enacted a specific authorization for such use of United States Armed Forces, (2) has extended by law such sixty-day period, or (3) is physically unable to meet as a result of an armed attack upon the United States.According to my calendar, the sixty days since the start of the bombing of Yugoslavia expired on May 26 with no action on your part. I can understand a brief delay for the Memorial Day holiday, but there has been no action this week.
I strongly urge you to do your duty and see that all US Armed Forces are removed from Yugoslavia.
