I wake up pretty early, and head to the nearby Burger King for some breakfast. As I'm eating, a guy in drag is putting on his makeup for the day, and I think to myself that there's some age at which men should stop being drag queens. They end up looking like Dame Edna at best. And this guy isn't anything like "at best".
After he leaves, and while I'm finishing off my breakfast, I think that a lot of drag queens are just as (if not more) caught up in consumerism as everyone else. Having the right look is important to people, and even those who choose to dress differently usually have some standard they measure themselves against.
I head back to my hotel and check out. Eric's meeting me in a bit, and I go and wait outside the door of the hotel so I'll be easier to spot. An obnoxious street person (female) approaches me and asks for "some help". I decline, and get screamed at. I've heard that the street people in San Francisco can be pretty obnoxious, and here's one example. But I just stand my ground, and she moves on after venting.
Eric arrives, and we head off to Chinatown for some food. There was a place he thought would be good, but it's closed now, so we pick a restaurant pretty much at random and have an okay meal.

After lunch, we head up to the Presidio. There's some nice views, and we both take some pictures and walk around a bit. Nothing really strenuous, just some looking around on a really nice day.

We head to the Haight for a while. It's one of the places I don't usually visit in San Francisco, since it's become far too much of a tourist attraction, but again, this is the vacation when I've decided to see that sort of thing. After walking up and down the street a bit, we stop in a bar for a couple beers to chat. We haven't seen each other for a while, and it's time to be geeks.
Post bar, we walk up to Buena Vista Park. It feels somewhat like Tower Hill Park in Minneapolis, but I it's bigger, there are more paths, and the hills are steeper. It's an awfully cool park.
The rest of the evening is spent at Fred's Dinner, where I get to play with Paul's Hiptop enough that I decide I'm going to have to have one when they ship, and then it's back to San Jose, where I spend the night at Eric and his wife's house.
